An Improved Financial Year for Western Watersheds Project |
2005 proved to be a year of improved financial outcomes for Western Watersheds Project. Not only was the entire year’s income well in the black, but outstanding debt built-up in 2004 and prior years was substantially reduced. With good cash balances in-hand at the end of the year WWP starts out 2006 with an very good financial outlook.
Some of the beneficial financial news in 2005 included better membership numbers, excellent response to the June Match fund-raising campaign that raised $50,000, and the December end-of-the-year fundraising appeal to all members that set a record for December contributions to WWP. There were also a higher percentage of major donors of $250 or more among all contributors as compared to prior years.
No doubt a good part of this financial success can be attributed to WWP’s continuing successes in winning administrative appeals and targeted litigation to support our public lands campaigns. WWP’s success also comes from the benefits of the rental program at WWP’s Greenfire Preserve (see www.choice1.com/greenfire.htm?CID=14702 for rental information) and from the success of WWP’s on-the-ground restoration programs on WWP’s 432 acre Greenfire Preserve in central Idaho and the 50,000 acres of federal grazing allotments associated with WWP’s subsidiary Valley Sun L.L.C. also located in central Idaho.
WWP extends thanks once again to all contributors to WWP in 2005, and on behalf of all the WWP staff and board, WWP looks forward to fulfilling your trust in using your contributions effectively for the protection.
