6. Unnamed Creek

Land Manager: BLM, Burley Field Office
Legal Location: T 14S R 26E Sections 19, 20 Cassia County
Allotment: #5003 Jim Sage

Dominant Plant Community Type: Shrub-Juniper

Impacts: Livestock utilization has impacted this small drainage as well as several others like it. Only remnants of riparian vegetation still exist at this location. Trampling of the channel has led to disruption of flow and down-cutting. The lack of riparian structure limits the wildlife potential of this small creek and many similar intermittent flows throughout the region.

Recommendations: It is recommended that livestock be withdrawn from this location. Significant riparian recovery (based on regenerative capability) would require a minimum time period of 3-6 years. Willow and other riparian species need to achieve a height of 6 feet or more in order to withstand short duration grazing.
