The First Annual Endangered Species Act Conference
October 3, 2002 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. at Pocatello, Idaho.
On October 3, 2002 at the Pocatello City Hall Chambers 911 North 7th Street, the first annual Endangered Species Act Seminar will be held with panels and debate by Laird Lucas, attorney for WWP; Ted Hoffman, President elect of the Idaho Cattle Association; Jim Caswell, the Director of the Idaho Office of Species Conservation; Representatives of the Nez Perce, Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and National Marine Fisheries Service will also be participating.
The event will be televised live on Pocatello TV Access, Channel 11.

The Conference is dedicated in tribute to the late Dr. Joy Belsky. This is the third annual RangeNet conference and will include a keynote
address Thursday evening October 10 by Dr. Thomas Michael Power, the Chair of
the Department of Economics at the University of Montana speaking about "Post
Cowboy Economics". Following Dr. Power's address, the first Edward Abbey
Memorial Hooved Locust Award will be presented to an individual or individuals
for outstanding achievement in bringing the truth of public lands ranching to
the American people. Other panels include the Solicitor of the Department of the Interior, William
Myers and Laird Lucas, attorney of Boise, discussing "The Legal Framework of
Public Lands Ranching" Another Panel will discuss the "Future of Public Lands Ranching" with Jon
Marvel, executive director of WWP and Ed Marston, the executive director of High

RangeNet 2002, "Bovines or Biodiversity: The National Campaign to End
Abusive Public Lands Ranching." will be held October 9-11 at the Boise State
University Student Union Building in Boise, Idaho.

The second annual Greenfire Revival will follow the RangeNet Conference
from Friday evening October 11 to Sunday morning October 13. The Revival will
provide an opportunity to learn about WWP's restoration efforts on over one mile
of the East Fork of the Salmon River in Custer County, Idaho. Tours of the local
feral horse herd and its impacts will be held along with trips to see irrigation
diversions subject to WWP's Endangered Species Act Lawsuits. Additional
activities include conservation videos about public lands ranching, discussions
about legal strategy and a music jam Saturday night Attendees should plan on camping out and enjoying the main lodge at the Preserve
where three meals on Saturday October 12 and breakfast on Sunday October 13 will
be served. Friday evening will be a potluck, so bring some good food to share. Pre-registration and a $20 contribution to help cover the cost of food over
the event per person are encouraged.
