In Today's edition (August 30, 1999) of the Twin-Falls, Idaho Times-News, reporter Niels Nokkentved covers the remarkably degraded conditions of Rocky Canyon and Timber Creek. Niels participated in a proper functioning condition assessment by BLM staff scientists Charlene Vullo (riparian specialist) and Jim Klott (biologist) on Tuesday August 24. Jon Marvel of IWP and Katie Fite of the Committee for Idaho's High Desert also participated.
The opening paragraph of the article starts: " The stream winds beneath dramatic rock formations and lush aspen groves, but in places it is choked with cow excrement, the banks trampled and vegetation grazed down."
Biologist Klott is quoted in the article stating: " This shouldn't be a cow allotment."
