Katie Fite
Biodiversity Director
Katie Fite, Western Watershed Project’s Biodiversity Director, grew up in Pennsylvania and went to graduate school at Utah State University with an emphasis on ecology, graduating with a Master’s Degree in Biology. Katie worked for Idaho Fish and Game where she participated in projects planting sagebrush in uplands and shrubs and trees in riparian zones. She also worked with private landowners to protect fish and wildlife habitat and develop plantings to enhance the environment.
After almost a decade with Idaho Fish and Game, Katie decided she could accomplish more as an environmental activist working for public land organizations. She has been working on biodiversity/habitat issues in that capacity for 10 years, first for the Committee for Idaho’s High Desert which is dedicated to the protection of desert wildlands administered by the BLM, and subsequently for WWP.
Katie enjoys hiking and camping at all times of the year and in all kinds of weather, especially in high arid country.
