Erik Ryberg

WWP’s Arizona Legal Counsel

Erik Ryberg was raised in Ashland, Oregon where he was able to walk to and from the Rogue River National Forest as a boy. He attended the University of Rochester and the University of Virginia before returning West. Eric then entered the University of Idaho and graduated summa cum laude from the College of Law.

While attending college, he hitch-hiked throughout the West and Southwest in the summers, backpacking and climbing, and became alarmed by the impact of logging on public forested lands. As a result, after graduation, he moved to McCall, Idaho and ran Payette Forest Watch, successfully challenging dozens of logging projects in the area.

Erik has also worked for a number of other public lands organizations including The Ecology Center, Western Lands Project, Hells Canyon Preservation Council, Neighbors of Cuddy Mountain, and the Idaho Sporting Congress.

Eric lives in Tucson where he has a private law practice, continues to work on public land projects, and teaches basic and advanced rhetoric classes at the University of Arizona School of Law.
